#Poland ABW (Internal Security Agency) now runs an official bot on #Telegram where people can report recruitment attempts to conduct sabotage in Poland. Number of such incidents has increased significantly in Poland over the last year and vast majority of those detained are young citizens of #Ukraine and #Belarus who were recruited as “disposable agents” for quick money schemes and then blackmailed into much serious crimes. FSB can do the last part really professionally, it’s their job.

Cloud Atlas activity in the first half of 2025: what changed

The Cloud Atlas APT group continues to target countries in Eastern Europe and Central Asia using phishing emails with malicious attachments exploiting CVE-2018-0802. The infection chain now includes several implants: VBShower, VBCloud, PowerShower, and CloudAtlas. New and updated components are described, including payloads for file exfiltration, credential stealing, and system information gathering. The backdoors use cloud services for command and control. Targets were identified in Russia and Belarus across telecommunications, construction, government, and manufacturing sectors. The group has been active for over 10 years and continues to expand its capabilities.

A new campaign by the ForumTroll APT group

The ForumTroll APT group has launched a new targeted phishing campaign against Russian political scientists, exploiting plagiarism reports as bait. The attackers used sophisticated techniques, including a well-prepared domain and personalized emails, to deliver the Tuoni framework malware. This campaign follows their spring attacks, which targeted organizations using zero-day vulnerabilities. The fall campaign relied on social engineering, using emails posing as a scientific library to trick victims into downloading malicious archives. The final payload was delivered through a PowerShell script and established persistence using COM Hijacking. Despite being less technically sophisticated than the spring campaign, this operation demonstrates the group's continued focus on Russian and Belarusian targets.

They are literally fighting over a 30-50 km strip in Donetsk, roughly 20% of the region still under Ukrainian control and now a central issue in negotiations.

If it was the case - if Russia was after Donbas from the start, they would just push full force there in 2022, and they would win that with the initial invasion force (200k). But they didn’t - they attacked on all directions, including the capital Kyiv passing through #Belarus and #Chornobyl. The original objective was a flash military coup, replacing the Ukrainian government with puppet regime and political control over the whole country.

Russia never abandoned this goal, which it says explicitly all the time, with the insistence on the “removal of root causes”, which is an euphemism of the above - to say that bluntly, root case being Ukraine’s sovereignty.
