This is a colour photo in portrait format of the Old Hill Street Police Station, taken from the corner and looking along the front facade. Singapore (2013). The view of the building is oblique with the left side facing the camera and the front stretching away into the distance from the corner to the right edge of the photo. Extending vertically through the centre of the photo is the corner of the building. From the corner and extending to the left margin is a white masonry wall, almost a faux marble in appearance, with a ledge reaching outwards about one metre from the facade. Above is a mock brick pattern with large rectangular shapes making up the bricks. Below is a little more elaborate with a short column like pattern below the ledge and a frame like adornment on the building's side. The front of the building is far, far grander, with the stonework in the same white colour, tall square pillars between the large rectangular windows that are almost hidden from view. In view are three floors. Each floor has multiple, brightly coloured, open shutters in front of their windows: set in an almost rainbow order. On the lower floor the shutters start with about six yellow shutters, then three red, six yellow, three light green, three dark green, then six blue before disappearing out of view. The floors above have a similar, but slightly differing order. The building has a total of 927 windows, was a police station and is now the Ministry of Communications and Information.

This is a night time photo taken early in the morning and between a set of tram tracks and looking along a residential city street. Seattle, Washington (2012). The camera is about one metre from the ground and angled between two straight, parallel and shiny rail tracks. The tracks are set into the tarmac on the right side of the road, without any track on the opposite side. To the right is a slightly elevated section of the sidewalk which must be to aid boarding of the trams. Immediately ahead of the boarding area is a single parked car, facing the camera, with further parked cars in the distance. Lining the sidewalks on both sides of the street are small trees, about four metres high with most of the branches angled skywards, all wrapped with multiple white strings of Christmas lights. The image was taken in early January. The trees are spaced every five to ten metres apart. Between the trees and spaced at regular intervals are streetlights. On either side of the sidewalks are modern apartment buildings with only the first few floors visible in the image. At the end of the street and In the distance, say one hundred metres away, is a tram heading towards the camera. Beyond the tram are a number of high-rise buildings, some dark, so perhaps residential while one is brightly lit, so maybe an office block.

This is a colour wildlife photo in landscape format of an adult Chinstrap Penguin among some rocks with a sleeping infant penguin in front. Graham Land, Antarctica (2024). On the left side of the image is a large, narrow, sharp edged rock extending away from the camera. The rock has some dark red patches scattered on the top surfaces. To the right of the rock is a channel running parallel to it. Above and to the left of centre is an adult Chinstrap Penguin (Pygoscelis antarcticus), standing upright, its body angled slightly to the right but with the head looking towards the camera. The front and right side of the bird is in view with the Penguin occupying about a quarter of the image. As in most Penguins, the Chinstrap has a white front and black back. The top of the head is black with a thin black line extending from the top of the head under the eyes and beak and back up the other side - hence the name Chinstrap. The right wing (flipper) is partially extended. In front of our bird is an infant penguin, lying down and is a mass of dark grey down feathers, but looks more like fluffy cushion. It is impossible to tell which end is which. To the right of the two birds is a larger, jagged, light grey rock that extends upwards into the top right corner and then out of view. These Penguins are part of a colony (rookery) high above the sea, about 50-100 metres up, high enough to be out of the reach of predatory Leopard Seals.

It would be nice if all of us, without exception, stopped fighting our daily battles and paused, at least for a few minutes, to listen to the silence of the sun as it kisses our skin at sunset.

The centre is filled with a long flat area for cars and lorries to park. The main superstructure is above with two decks of passenger areas and a wheelhouse on top. The ferry is moored side-on to the quay, so since both the fore and aft ramps are over the water, the ferry must be out of service. Surrounding the waterfront is a mass of flat, calm, dark grey water reaching to the left margin on the side and upwards to the two thirds up level. In the medium distance, 1-2 km away are a few low, long islets and skerries. In the far distance, about 10km away, is a range of tall and undulating, snow covered mountains.
