This is a black and white street photo in landscape format of an African-American man fishing with eight rods at the end of a small pier. Beyond is a SeaCat fast ferry underway and a moored cruise ship in the background. Long Beach, California (2015).
Extending from the lower left corner to the middle of the photo and rising upwards to the half way up level are the weathered metal railings of a small pier with the wooden flooring just visible at the base of the image. Standing in the right corner of the pier (and in the centre of the photo) is our mid-twenties (very early thirties) African-American man. He is viewed obliquely with his back and right side in view, he is filling half the height of the photo. The camera is at the same level as the man and positioned four to five metres away. He has short neat hair, a short trimmed beard, is wearing a dark, long-sleeved sweat shirt and jeans. In front of him and attached to the railings are seven fishing rods, their thin mono filament fishing lines are stretched outwards into the water ahead and below. In his left hand is the eighth fishing rod, the line, again, out over the water and he is holding the reel in his right hand. In the lower right corner, the water stretches upwards to the one-third up level. Extending from the right edge of the phot to the centre is the white SeaCat fast ferry underway from right to left. The ferry is slightly blurred out of focus but the two decks are visible with the wheelhouse on top. The vessel's name 'Catalina Express' can just be made out. The background is dominated by the stern and starboard side of a large white moored cruise ship. Again this ship is slightly blurred out of focus but the name 'Carnival Inspiration' can be read high above her stern.
That moment when you realise that you forgot your sunglasses but figure you'll just squint.

This is a black and white abstract architectural photo in portrait format of a portion of a Ferris Wheel in the foreground and a modern high-rise office block in the background. Central, Hong Kong (2015).
In the foreground is a small section of the Hong Kong Observation Wheel. In view are six white cabins, two large rings that circle the wheel and four lattice spokes that attach the outer rings of the wheel to the central hub. Each cabin is a horizontal rectangular box with large windows and attached to the two rings by a gimbal on the roof so that the cabins stays upright at all times. Behind is a the 2IFC, a 412m high-rise office block. The tall and narrow building has a nearly square footprint at the base but with slightly curved convex glass fronted sides. While the building has 88 floors above the ground the numbers 14 and 24 are missing since in Cantonese culture these numbers are considered inauspicious. In the background is a clear and cloudless sky rendered a dark grey.

This is a high contrast abstract, black and white photo in portrait format of the tower section of a historic cantilever road bridge brightly lit by the still low morning sun with a clear and cloudless sky rendered jet black. 59th Street Bridge, NYC (2012).
The camera is angled steeply upwards at a section of the tower of this steel cantilever bridge. The white lattice and truss metal work is brightly lit by the just risen morning sun. The structure is an orderly jumble of straight lengths of steel, mostly trusses made up from metal formed into lattices and then riveted into a long box like trusses. Some of the lengths are vertical, some horizontal and a few diagonal. Just visible spanning the top are long lengths of steel plating, all of the lengths closely spaced together and extending from the anchorage, on land, over the towers to the far anchorage with vertical struts descending down and supporting the road deck below, which in this case is hidden below the base of the photo.
