My big today was getting all my hung on the wall. We've been in the new house for three months, but there's been so many things to do that I haven't made time for the . There's still some of my to be hung to give the room a more lived in feel.

A room with a variety of instruments hung on the wall, mostly electric and acoustic guitars but also electric bass and five string banjo. On the floor under the instruments are large storage boxes. To the right is a shelving unit containg all manner of stage gear for performances and recording.

If you can bear it you can listen to the album I created for the 2008 RPM Challenge. It’s not great but there are some things I like about it. (Not bad for recording an entire album in 28 days!)

                SEND NO FLOWERS
                Send No Flowers
                1982 UK 7” single

Oh man is THIS ever rad!

This 3-song 7” by Liverpool’s Send No Flowers is their ONLY recorded output. Just this one 45 and POOF! Gone.

That’s a shame, cuz it’s really fucking cool.

The Discogs entry for this says it’s . I definitely don’t agree with that.
It leans a little bit more towards what people at this time were calling .

It’s got flashes of some very early Cure, when they were still scrappy & punky sounding themselves. It’s also got slashing, angular guitars that are more on par with Andy Gill from Gang Of Four than it is anything you’d call “new wave”.

All of this is anchored by a dynamic female vocalist by the name of Campbell L. Sangster, who (along with her SNF band mate Jake Wakstein) would go on to be in another band I’ve never heard of (and who ALSO put out 1 recording in 1989) called Kit.

                    JUDAS PRIEST
                    The Best Of Judas Priest
                    1978 Canada pressing

Sometimes, when you get to the end of the day… you know exactly what needs to be done.

                    Tonight… it’s Judas Priest.
                    All the pre- bangers.

And a BIZARRE added bonus…which I am completely baffled by…

There were TWO single sided card-backed flexi-discs of Bobby Sherman?!?? Which, apparently, came on Post cereal boxes in 1972.

Now, I bought this Priest album used a LOOOONG time ago. So I guess I never really noticed they were in there to begin with.

There’s Judas Priest, and then there’s Bobby Sherman, and never the Twain shall meet.
                    Or so you’d think.

I definitely did NOT want to run past 30 minutes today, but Smashing Pumpkins - Where Boys Fear to Tread started and the first 20 seconds got me over the hump today.

Starting the run required a lot of effort but I always get a giggle when anything from Rage Against the Machine plays (Snakecharmer in this case) and I get ro remember one of the greatest twitter dunks from the past.

Old twitter post by Scott Castenada:
"@tmorello I used to be a fan until your political opinions come out. Music is my sanctuary and the last thing I want to hear is political bs when I'm listening to music. As far as i'm concerned you and Pink are completely done. Keep running your mouth and ruining your fan base."

Reply from Howard Finkelstein:
What "Machine" did you think he was raging against? The dishwasher?

                          THE DIODES
                          Released
                          1979 Canada pressing

                          An incredible, KILLER album.
Super under-appreciated, high-energy and catchy as fuck.

From Toronto, Canada, Diodes put out a handful of great albums during their initial run of 1977-1982.

Here, things get off to a great start with the classic “Red Rubber Ball”, a KILLER take on the classic The Cyrkle song. And it doesn’t let up a single bit from there.

The other classic gem here is Side B’s opener, “Tired Of Waking Up Tired”.

Absolute Canadian punk legends, and just a great fucking album.
