I’ve always thought the ‘ricing’ scene was pretty ridiculous, and misses the point of i3; the point being to maximize the use of your screen real estate and work as efficiently as possible. As ‘cool’ as the ‘ricers’ must feel, I’m with you, I think it’s a phase they’re going through - I liken it to a cargo cult. They see people using these really slick minimalist productivity tools and then they start emulating it, but they don’t really have any real work to get done... so they miss the point, they don’t really get that things like ‘gaps’ go against the purpose of even using a tiling window manager. That said, I also appreciate that the GNU/Linux (and the whole \*nix & open-source) scene is about freedom to do whatever you want, even if what you want makes sense to no one else. I guess that’s why this is the first time I’ve spoke up about this, haha. I don’t want to come across as one of those purists shmucks either, but it’s nice to know I’m not the only

The #panfrost DRM driver, supporting #Arm #Mali Midgard & Bifrost GPUs, hit #linux next and thus is should be part of #kernel 5.2 (expected mid July): git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/…

The corresponding OpenGL driver is in Mesa master and thus will be part of Mesa 19.1, expected late May.

Choosing Linux: 2 Awesome Tools To Find Your Perfect Linux OS

Linux is powerful, fast and secure by default, and for all this, it also gives very many different options of distros as well as desktops. In most cases, applications will install and run across all of them. But each distro and desktop has its own areas where it excels and also those which are not a major focus for it. As a beginner, you won't go wrong with either standard Ubuntu or Linux Mint.

Deciding to install a Desktop Linux OS is an awesome decision that opens the door to more choice than you can imagine. For beginners, that wealth of choice can sometimes transform into confusion and frustration without a little guidance. Here are two websites that help narrow down your options based on your personal preferences!
